Cantenna

A cantenna is basically a wave guide antenna with the main conduit made from a can. This can is usually a soup or stew can. I used a sturdy steel coffee can. I used the cantenna howto as a guide for building it, the problem is that the calculator is based on inches instead of metric's. But there is always google, you can always fill in this for instance to calculate the waveguide emitter length: "1.21 inches in centimetres" and voila you get the answer: 1.21 inches = 3.0734 centimeters . Very useful when dealing with those pesky inches.
Most of the components here are ordered trough farnell, they are kind of expensive but they have a lot of things and the quality is good. This is the bill of materials I used for constructing it:

Item description: Farnell order code:
Price in euro's:
1000mm SMA SMA cable 4766854 16.00
SMA connector long tail 4108024    5.31

Several euros at the albert heyn store

This is the cantenna completely apart, can, waveguide, 2 screws from a dead computer PSU, and a SMA cable.
